Varanasi was founded by the god Shiva.
How was make the name "Varanasi": Varanasi which was derived from the two tributaries of the holy River Gange named Varuna and Assi.

1-Boat tour along the Ganges River

2-Promenade along the Ghats
One of the main attractive points of the city is its Ghats. Going along the edge of the Ganges is a unique and spiritually enlightening experience. From Assi Ghat to Manikarnika Ghat, the walk makes you discover the colorful and alive face of the city.
From early morning to late evening, locals come to the steps that lead down the water to take a bath, cleaning clothes, doing yoga or just sitting in the border and feeling the energy of the river.

The Buddhist pilgrimage, Sarnath lies 10 km from Varanasi, near the confluence of the Ganges and the Gomati rivers in Uttar Pradesh.

The ruins, the museum and temple are all within walking distance. However, amongst the ruins the Dharmekh Stupa is impressive at 128 feet high, and 93 in diameter.
